ABOUT THE TEAM
Kreative Treasures founder, Karen Torres, is ever so passionate about events. At the age of 18, she started her own wedding supplies retail shop with her sister back in the Philippines, inspired by countless design creations by their mom from the family-owned business growing up. After pursuing degrees in Hotel and Restaurant Management and Business Management and a few too many courses in between, she finally realized the events industry is it. After university, she decided to pursue the big It by setting up shop in downtown Baguio City. The downtown dream was abruptly halted, however, as her family decided to migrate to Canada. New to Canada, she was working as a Tim Hortons employee when a Government Branch Director recognized her organizational skills and offered her a position in the Government Ontario. In the Directors words, her superb organizational skills and impressive work ethics cant go without notice. While happy with the position she was offered in the Branch, she found herself craving for her first love: events. The rekindled flame brought her from one position to another in various Canadian companies, one promotion after another, catapulting her into the height of the industry, working with and for clients that are well known in the corporate world. Armed with the success of events / projects she coordinated as an employee and as a volunteer, she decided it was time to move ahead as a business owner. Her vision as a business owner, aside from the (k)reation of the extraordinary, is to hire and give opportunities to fellow immigrants who are starting their dreams in Canada but are challenged by the circumstances. Currently, she employs friends and relatives, a roster of unique talents, who have gained event experience in the most meticulous of environments, from the palace of the former prince of Saudi Arabia (now the King) to various embassies and diplomat residences such as the residence of Ex Governor General Adrienne Clarkson to various 5 star hotels and clubs here and internationally. Education and experience are but slivers of the extraordinary pie. What makes it extremely extraordinary are the passion and hard work the team contributes to whatever extraordinary events and elements they (k)reate.
